New Story Idea

So, I've been coming up with a new story idea that is quite different from the other books I am working on. I'm not going to be super specific about the plot or characters, because I myself haven't figured out all of the details. Because the problem in the story is so great, I can't imagine fitting all of it inside of one book (unless you want a one or two thousand page book.)
Here are some things that I can tell you.
The story is based in the future. The setting is in the Middle East (different country names now after a nuclear war wiped out most of the people in the world.) There is no technology or real system of government (people just simply live without very much order <-- more info on that later.) I'm thinking that it's going to be told in first person, but I have also considered doing 3rd for a change. A majority of the characters names are Middle Eastern.
I would consider it to be in the thriller/adventure/suspense category.
