So let's start, shall we?
As mentioned before, the main character's name is Ariel. It is pronounced differently: Ari-el. Most of the time, everyone just calls her Ari.
She is an eighteen year old girl with a strange past. Both of her parents died when she was very young, and she is an only child. Ari cannot remember anything about her parents, or any of her childhood. The only memory she has, happened when she was 6 years old, in which she was convinced that she had seen an "angel."
As Ari continues to grow up, she notices how she doesn't belong in the world, and that she is always out of the loop. She doesn't really seek an explanation for it, and tries to think of herself as just "different." Throughout her life, Ari keeps seeing "sightings" of strange, unnatural humans. She is aware that her ability to identify them is unusual, yet she doesn't exactly know how her mind can distinguish them from everyone else.
I’m not sure what part of me can differentiate them from ordinary people, because in all my life, I’ve never met or heard of anyone who can point them out so effortlessly. It’s more of a feeling - intuition, perhaps. But it's really all a mystery to me.
Through her past circumstances, she learns certain traits about them. Also, she realizes that some have different abilities than others.
Her life turns around on December 1st, 2010 when she meets a certain stranger. After that, the chaos begins.
She is said to have gray eyes and reddish brownish hair.
Dante is introduced in the first chapter. I got the idea of the character Dante from a real person who I saw at McDonalds.
(NOTE: Remember that he doesn't look exactly like this, but it is pretty close.)
He looked like he was maybe seventeen or eighteen years old. At the moment, he was hunched over in a black and red jacket. I got a good view of the back of his head, which was covered in shaggy, dark blonde hair. It was long enough to cover up half of his ears and a good majority of his neck. I noticed that he was twirling something in his long, bony fingers. A cell phone.
I kept my eyes trained on his movements while he wasn’t looking, trying to take in the details of his defined cheekbones, the small, barely noticeable shadows growing beneath his black eyes, the slight twitch of his jaw…
Dante is one of those characters where you don't really know what to expect from him. As the story continues, you will learn a little more about his dark past and how he became who he is, and you will also get to know his personality better. (He's my favorite character in this book.)
Seymour ends up playing a major role in this story, though you will probably not be able to tell at the beginning of the story. Ari compares him a lot to Dante, and notices that they look "almost like brothers."
Seymour had a head full of chocolate-colored brown hair, around the same length as Dante’s. Like I had noticed before, their body shapes were similar. Seymour wasn’t as lanky as Dante, and he had more muscle on his chest and upper body. However, his highly defined cheekbones, curved eyebrows, and perfectly proportioned face matched Dante’s. It was weird.
I secretly wondered inside if they were brothers. Lying near each other, I could see how they could be, and yet they were so different at the same time.
Originally, Jade was going to be Ari's best friend. However, my characters sometimes turn on me and end up doing other things. As of the moment, Jade is a very short-tempered and angry person. I know for a fact though, that Jade is more than what she appears to be.
It took me awhile to find a decent picture for her, since I had such a vivid image of her inside of my head. Again, this doesn't look exactly like her, but the image gives us a general idea of what she looks like.
Jade looked the most different to me. I couldn’t really see her face last night, except for the outline of her features. I was expecting to look at an evil face – a witch’s face perhaps, probably because of the way she acted towards me last night. However, she was the most normal looking of them all.
Her cropped black hair was layered, and somewhat rustled from her sleep. Her face was small, petite, and angel-like. I recognized her slightly upturned nose, but I also saw a few unnoticed freckles painted on her pale face, as well as a few other things. Her sharp chin, her defined jaw line, a small, barely noticeable scar running down her neck, her slender, almost perfect fingers, the length of her thin legs, the way she cradled her arms inward into her chest, as if protecting her heart…
Hmmm, well I can't say a whole ton about Elliot without spoiling a lot of it. I'll just say that he's not necessarily good. He's very seductive in a way, which makes him extremely dangerous, and he's very powerful and temperamental.
I couldn't find one picture alone that looked like him. The first one shows a good idea of what his facial features are like, yet the second one shows more of the evilness, the shadows in his face, and the hair style that he has.
“What did he look like?” he asked next.
I heard the seriousness in the tone of his voice, and it only made me more nervous. I bit my lip in concentration.
“Tall, blonde hair, kind of muscular, blue eyes…” I kept trying to think. How could I explain the confidence and casualty in the way he walked? The way his eyebrows raised lightly over his eyes, when the scream lashed through the air? The way he looked at me, almost seductively? The way his face was beautiful, yet incredibly evil at the same time? The way his jaw twitched without him realizing it?
There are many more characters to introduce, but I thought I would start you off lightly so you won't get them all confused and mixed up. :)
